How to Read The Bible

If you’ve ever said; “I want to read the Bible but it’s just too confusing, or I want to read the Bible, but I just don’t know where to start”, then you’re not alone! Many people are curious about God, but don’t feel confident enough take that first step towards discovery. One of the oldest tricks of the enemy is to make us feel confused, guilty, or shameful. DO NOT FALL FOR IT! God’s grace & mercy are greater than anything we can ever experience.

Just get started!

Where Do I Start?

Without minimizing the word of God, navigating through all 66 books in the Bible can be a lot, especially if you are new to the faith. And if I am honest, it can be even harder if you are an athlete and you feel like you just don’t have the time. In my own personal opinion, when someone questions where to begin their journey, I find it easiest to just point to Jesus (This is something that you should get used to). If you aren’t sure where to start, try the books of: Matthew, Mark, Luke, John.

Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 15:14 “..if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is empty and your faith is also empty.” This reminds us that, the entirety of our hope is not only in the life and death of Jesus, but also His resurrection. This is why He is our Lord & Savior (which you will come to learn more about). Therefore, read the eyewitness accounts about His life and resurrection. Study His words and His teachings. Then, the more you read, the more you will begin to understand. And I promise, as you make your way through the gospels and learn to humble yourself before the throne of grace, your confusion will fade away and your confidence will grow in Christ.
