Search for God
As you begin to read, it is important to understand that the Bible is not about you. From Genesis to Revelation, the entirety of the Bible points to Jesus Christ. Therefore the Bible is not about you, but it is for you. It is for you to search out the things of God. Over thousands of years, men and women have told stories, and wrote about their experiences with God. The Bible tells us that Scripture is “God-breathed”. This means that the men who wrote about their experiences were influenced by the Spirit of God.
So as you read the Bible, look to find Jesus in every page. When you approach reading in this manner, you will stop thinking about yourself, and start thinking about God.
